Tackling the Challenges of High Wind Penetration and Weak Systems (S104A)

Wed, 5/8: 9:00 AM  - 10:30 AM
Non-Scientific Session
Identify technical challenges to interconnecting large wind plants on weak grids, while exploring the solutions presently available. Investigate issues of system stability, voltage regulation, frequency regulation, and mitigation techniques that have been applied to achieve otherwise unrealizable levels of wind penetration. In addition, see how strategies used by small island systems -- often the most technically challenging --can be directly applied to much larger grids. Get the knowledge, and build the action plan, and resolve challenges to move your wind project to completion.
